Minutes of the November 15, 2015 Meeting at Awful Annie’s Restaurant in Auburn, CA

President Greg Hill called the meeting to order at 9:07 A.M.

Invocation: The invocation was led by Ron Barker.

Pledge of Allegiance: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Dale Ross.

SAR Pledge: The SAR Pledge was led by Mike Holmes.

Attendance: There were 10 Members and 4 Guests in attendance.

Introductions- Guests: The guests for the August meeting were Jeannette Clark, Conni Barker , Coreena Ross, Jenny Taylor.

Approval of Minutes: Wayne Ford made the motion to approve the minutes as published on the chapter website. Ron Barker seconded the motion. The motion was approved.

Moment of Silence: There was a moment of silence for Compatriot Ernie McPherson.

Guest Speaker: There was not a guest speaker this month.

Reports

President’s Report: President Greg Hill spoke about the chapter’s new meeting place and the name of the restaurant is Awful Annie’s.

Secretary Report: No report was given at this time.

Treasurer’s Report: Dave Gilliard gave the treasurer’s report. He also spoke about the chapter dues being owed this month.

Membership Report: Ron Barker spoke about all of the perspective members will be checked against the Megan’s Law Website.

Genealogy/ Registrar Report: Ron Barker gave his report.

J.R.O.T.C. Report: Mike Holmes said there was no R.O.T.C. at this time.

Valley Forge Teacher’s Report: Mike Holmes spoke about getting a teacher for the Valley Forge Teacher Program.

Colorguard Report: Dale Ross spoke about the CASSAR State Meeting that was held in Riverside, CA at the Mission Inn in Riverside, CA. The chapter received The Partners in Patriotism Certificate while at the state meeting.

Dale Ross also spoke about the chapter participating in the Revolutionary War Encampment in Nevada City, CA. This will coincide with the Constitution Day Weekend and the Constitution Day Parade that is held on Sunday.

Dale Ross also said the chapter participated in the Veteran’s Day Parade in Auburn, CA.

Eagle Scout Report: President Dale Ross said there were 514 Eagle Scout Packets that were mailed out.

Historian/Chaplain Report: Mike Holmes gave his report.

Newsletter Editor: Ron Barker gave his report.

New Business

Ron Barker spoke about the CASSAR State Meeting that was held at the Mission Inn in Riverside, CA. The dates of the meeting were November 6th, 2015 through November 8th, 2015.

The teachers who went to Valley Forge and gave their presentation during the state meeting. They spoke about Valley Forge and the experiences they brought back from their trip. Dave Gilliard said the two teachers were sponsored by the Sacramento Chapter and the Gold Country Chapter.

Ron Barker said there were two new members who were sworn into the SAR while at the CASSAR State Meeting in Riverside, CA. Their names are Miller and Hudson Pauly.

While at the CASSAR State Meeting in Riverside, the California Ladies Auxiliary had a very special guest special and her name was Dolly Madison. Diane Stephens portrayed Dolly Madison and she received a Certificate of Appreciation from California Ladies Auxiliary Lisa Gregory.

The California Ladies Auxiliary made blankets for the veterans who are at the Veteran’s Hospital. The ladies who participated in making the blankets received challenge coins from Conni Barker.

Greg Hill spoke about the next two chapter fundraisers which were going to be the elections and they will need people to run the polling places. Mike Holmes spoke about the chapter signing up for the Big Day of Giving this year for fundraising for the chapter.

Ron Barker said the SAR will recognize the Vietnam Veterans at the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War.

Dave Gilliard made the motion for the current chapter board to stay seated for the next year, except Gordon Clark who will become the second vice-president for the chapter. Ron Barker made the motion to accept the nomination and Wayne Ford seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dale Ross said the chapter is going to participate in the Wreaths Across America Ceremony which will be held at the Sacramento National Cemetery in Dixon, CA.

There was a discussion about the Christmas Meeting.. Dave Gilliard made the motion for the chapter to have the dinner at Awful Annie’s. Gordon Clark seconded the motion. Discussion followed. The motion carried.

Dave Gilliard spoke about the CASSAR State Meeting that will be held at the Embassy Suites in Sacramento, CA. The dates of the CASSAR State Meeting will be April 14th, 2015 through April 16th, 2015.

Ron Barker is the new upcoming California State President. The Gold Country Chapter will be hosting the state meeting. There will be a special dinner on Friday night and the dinner will be at the Sutter’s Club.

Ron Barker spoke about attending the upcoming SAR Conference that will be held in Southern California. The dates of the conference are June 9th, 2015 through June 12th, 2015.

Ron Barker announced that he was accepted into the Jamestown Society.

Greg Hill recognized the veterans in the chapter while at the meeting.

Greg Hill made the motion for the meeting to be adjourned and Dave Gilliard seconded the motion.

SAR Recessional: The SAR Recessional was led by Wayne Ford.

The meeting adjourned at 10:16 a.m.
