Minutes for August 2016 Meeting

President Greg Hill called the meeting to order at 9:04 A.M.

Invocation: There was not any invocation given.

SAR Pledge: The SAR Pledge was led by Gordon Clark.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mike Holmes.

Introductions- Guests: The guests for the August meeting were Tony Chakurian, Eric Gurney, Coreena Ross. Vice President North Derek Brown and his wife Janet Brown.

Vice President Derek Brown spoke about the 50 year anniversary of the Vietnam War. He also presented Gordon Clark with a token of appreciation for his military service. He also spoke about the November State Meeting in Burlingame. He also spoken about the NASSAR Youth Programs. He also spoke about the Veteran’s Programs.

Approval of Minutes: Mike Holmes made the motion to approve the minutes as published on the chapter website. Gordon Clark seconded the motion. The motion was approved.

Chapter Reports

President’s Report: President Greg Hill spoke about the Wreaths Across America Program. He also spoke about the November Election.

1st Vice President’s Report: There was no report given.

2nd Vice President’s Report: There was no report given.

Treasurer’s Report: Dave Gilliard gave the treasurer’s report.

Secretary’s Report: There was no report given.

Eagle Scout Report: Dale Ross said that he was working on getting the Eagle Scout names from the Golden Empire Council Boy Scouts of America.

Poster Judging Contest: Dave Gilliard spoke about the poster contest. He said the chapter’s poster winner won at the National Contest and will be displayed at NASSAR for one year.

Valley Forge: Mike Holmes spoke about the Valley Forge Teacher Program.

J.R.O.T.C. Program: There was not a report given.

Wreaths Across America: Mike Holmes spoke about selling the wreaths for the Wreaths Across America.

Historian/Chaplain Report: Greg Hill said Barry Hopkins left the position because of health issues. Greg is now storing the items at his house.

Registrar’s Report: Greg Hill said that Tony Chakurian’s application is pending at national. There are two other applications started.

Colorguard Reports: Dale Ross spoke about upcoming chapter events involving the colorguard. He spoke about the Revolutionary War Encampment in Nevada City in September and the Constitution Day Parade and the Wreaths Across America, etc. He also spoke about the 4th of July Parade that was held in Nevada City and the chapter won third place for the Best Historical Marching Unit.

Chaplain’s Report: No report was given.

Newsletter Editor: No report was given.

Old Business

New Business

There was $17.00 collected for the Touch of Home Program.
