Minutes of the August 8, 2015 Meeting at Max’s Cafe in Auburn, CA

President Greg Hill called the meeting to order at 9:10 AM.

Pledge of Allegiance: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Dick Fowler.

SAR Pledge: The SAR Pledge was led by Dale Ross.

Attendance: There were 9 Members and 5 Guests in attendance.

Introductions- Guests: The guests for the August meeting were Mike Hurst, Conni Barker and Coreena Ross.

Approval of Minutes: Dave Gilliard made the motion to approve the minutes as published on the chapter website. Ron Barker seconded the motion. The motion was approved.

Guest Speaker: The guest speaker were Ron and Conni Barker. Ron and Conni talked about the National Congress that was held in Louisville, Kentucky. There was a horse race that was dedicated to the SAR at the Churchill Downs Racetrack. California won the Outstanding Newsletter overall.

The SAR has a new President General and his name is Thomas E. Lawrence.

The next year’s National Congress will be held in Boston, Massachusetts.

Conni Barker spoke about their trip to Mount Vernon and the subject was about Lafayette.

Reports

President’s Report: President Greg Hill spoke about the 4th of July Parade that was held in Grass Valley, CA. Dale Ross spoke about the picnic that was held afterwards.

Secretary Report: No report was given at this time.

Treasurer’s Report: Dave Gilliard gave the treasurer’s report.

Membership Report: Ron Barker said that Mike Hurst is a perspective member.

Genealogy/ Registrar Report: Ron Barker gave his report.

J.R.O.T.C. Report: Mike Holmes said there was no R.O.T.C. at this time.

Valley Forge Teacher’s Report: The Gold Country Chapter SAR sent a teacher to Valley Forge.

Colorguard Report: Dale Ross spoke about the Revolutionary War Encampment that is going to be held at Pioneer Park in Nevada City, CA. The date of the Revolutionary War Encampment is September 12th and 13th, 2015. Ross Miller of the Delaware Regiment who is hosting the encampment needs help in setting up the camp on Friday, September 11th, 2015. Dale Ross has volunteered to help set up the camp.

The Constitution Day Parade will be held in Nevada City, CA. The date of the parade is Sunday, September 13th, 2015. The chapter will meet at the Rood Center/Nevada County Government Center in Nevada City, CA at 1:00 p.m. After the parade there will be a picnic/potluck at Dale Ross’s house.

Eagle Scout Report: President Dale Ross said there were 514 Eagle Scout Packets that were mailed out.

Historian/Chaplain Report: Mike Holmes said Ernie McPherson was sick.

Newsletter Editor: Ron Barker gave his report.

New Business

Dave Gilliard spoke about the CASSAR State Meeting that will be held at the Embassy Suites in Sacramento, CA. The dates of the CASSAR State Meeting will be April 14th, 2015 through April 16th, 2015.

Ron Barker is the new upcoming California State President. The Gold Country Chapter will be hosting the state meeting.

Ron Barker made the motion for the meeting to be adjourned and Gordon Clark seconded the motion.
