Minutes of the April 15, 2017 Meeting at Original Mel’s Diner in Auburn, CA

President Greg Hill called the meeting to order at 9:05 A.M.

SAR Pledge: The SAR Pledge was led by Mike Holmes.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Ron Barker.

Introductions of Guests: The guests for the March meeting were Conni Barker, Coreena Ross.

Approval of Minutes: Mike Holmes made the motion to approve the minutes as published on the chapter website. Dave Gilliard seconded the motion. The motion was approved.

Chapter Reports

President’s Report: President Greg Hill spoke about the upcoming guest speaker for the May chapter meeting. The guest speaker will be Dr. Matthew Bodish.

1st Vice President’s Report: There was no report given.

2nd Vice President’s Report: There was no report given.

Treasurer’s Report: Dave Gilliard gave the Treasure’s Report at the chapter meeting.

Secretary’s Report: There was no report given.

Eagle Scout Report: There was no report given.

Poster Judging Contest: Dave Gilliard spoke about the poster contest and the chapter took 4th place at the CASSAR meeting in April.

Valley Forge: There was no report given

J.R.O.T.C. Program: Mike Holmes spoke about the chapter presenting a Good Citizen Medal to a Sea Cadet.

Historian Report: There was no report given.

Registrar’s Report: Ron Barker gave the Registrar’s Report.

Membership Report: Tyge and Toby Richardson were inducted into the chapter as new members.

Colorguard Reports: Colorguard Commander Dale Ross was presented with a streamer for the chapter participating in the Wreaths Across America Ceremony in December.

There is a pending Colorguard Activity at Beale Air Force Base on July 2nd, 2017.

The chapter is also going to participate in doing a Flag Presentation on June 17th, 2017 to the Auburn Oaks Retirement Community.

The chapter is going to investigate the cost in getting a new uniform for Tony Chakurian to participate in the colrguard activities.

Chaplain’s Report: No report was given.

Newsletter Editor: No report was given.

Old Business

CASSAR State Meeting: The CASSAR state meeting will be held in the first week of April. The Orange County Chapter will be hosting the meeting.

Ron Barker spoke about the Spring Leadership meeting in Louisville, Kentucky. He spoke about the poster and the brochure contests.

The National Leadership will hold this year’s congress in Louisville, Kentucky.

Mike Holmes spoke about the chapter participating the Big Day of Giving on May 4th, 2017 in Auburn, Ca. The chapter needed to do a 990 tax form for the program.

New Business

Dr. Matthew Bodash will be the guest speaker at the May meeting.

There was an update on Wreaths Across America. Paula Celick wanted to know if the chapter was going to handle the orders. The chapter will continue handling the orders.

Mike Holmes spoke about the chapter participating in the Big Day of Giving next year. The Big Day of Giving date is May 4th.

Ron Barker spoke about the Quilts of Valor Program. There were three quilts that were presented at the CASSAR state meeting in April.

The chapter needs to contact a quilter to do a new quilt square for the new CASSAR Ladies Auxiliary quilt.

The CASSAR Ladies Auxiliary quilt is being retired. Conni Barker and Coreena Ross will research in getting the quilt square completed for the Ladies Auxiliary..

Greg Hill called for the meeting to be adjourned. Mike Holmes made the motion for the meeting to be adjourned. Dave Gilliard seconded the motion. Motion carried.
