New Members are Welcome!

The SAR is a “lineage” society. This means that each member has traced their family tree back to a point of having an ancestor who fought for or actively supported the cause of American Independence during the years 1774-1783.

If you are interested in joining, but don’t know if you had a Revolutionary War ancestor, we want to help.

Fill out a MEMBERSHIP INTEREST FORM.  We will contact you and help you get started.

Qualifications for Membership

The SAR is open to males who:

• Are eighteen years or older and are citizens of good repute in the community,
• Are descendant of a patriot ancestor from the American Revolution

I Don’t Know if I Have a Patriot Ancestor?

If you aren’t sure whether any of your ancestors lived in the United States during the Revolution, don’t lose heart.   Many people don’t know if they had an eligible ancestor until they start looking. And researching your family history is easier than ever today, thanks to the large amount of information available on-line.   We want will help you with your research and in filling out your application form.
