Elementary School Poster Contest

The annual Americanism Poster Contest is a fun and educational program for Fifth Grade students. It was created to stimulate interest in American History in support of the classroom curriculum. A new poster topic is set every year. The 2010 topic will be "The Battle of Bunker Hill." The Gold Country SAR is pleased to provide local teachers with speakers who are knowledgeable on the yearly poster topic. Most of our speakers appear in Revolutionary War costume or uniform. Posters are judged and prizes are awarded at the School, Chapter, State and National levels. A representative of the National Art Education Association (NAEA) is invited to participate in the national poster judging. For more information, please email Poster Contest Chairman Dave Gilliard at dgilliard@ncbb.net.

The 2009 winners and posters can be viewed by clicking here.

SAR's Youth Programs
Children in Revolutionary War Costumes

The SAR and its chapters are active in the community to promote education about the Revolutionary War.

Education dealing with the contributions of our patriot forefathers to our nation's history is a key mission for the National Society, Sons of the American Revolution. In recent years, demands placed on the school systems of this country have resulted in a deficit of usable programs about the American Revolution.
